The club was founded in 1982 as Ewell Boys and has progressed from those early days of one under 10 and one under 12 team to the present strength of thirteen youth teams (Under 8 to Under 17), together with three adult teams.
The name was changed in 1987 to AFC Ewell with the advent of adult football within the ranks.
The 1989/90 season saw a move to Saturday adult football when the club was elected into Division One of the Sutton & District League on the 22nd June 1989. This move put our foot on the long ladder of the soccer pyramid extending all the way through to the Football League.
To date we have progressed to the Intermediate rung of the ladder, but are now only three divisions away from Senior status.
AFC Ewell still retains on its committee two of the original four founder members, namely John Fuller (President), and David Goldsmith (Chairman)
Another founder member, Roger Sprigge having been a team manager and general manager for many years is a Vice-President of the Club.
Over the years, with various international trips under its belt and visits to other parts of England and Wales, the club has always succeeded in making many new friends wherever it travels.
Over a twelve year period from the mid 80s to the late 90s the club held a very popular and highly respected Summer Fives tournament. At its height it was the largest such event in the county and attracted teams from far afield. The huge enjoyment and camaraderie generated by the Fives lives long in the memory of all those who took part. The continued success of these tournaments did much to spread the good name of AFC Ewell throughout much of Surrey.
During the past twelve months the club has also run successful quiz and race nights.
